Everything About Transition: a planning framework
This is our comprehensive reference section, organized around the Transition-Focused Education Framework (TFEF).
Transition-focused education keeps the focus on the student’s journey to adulthood. “Transition” can mean moving from high school to college, from a residential program to home, from school to work, and more. Everything about transition planning and transition-focused education fits into one of the five boxes below. All five areas are important.
The Framework for Transition-Focused Education is based on:
- Paula Kohler’s Taxonomy for Transition Programming. (Kohler, P.D. (1996). A taxonomy for transition programming: Linking research and practice. Champaign: Transition Research Institute, University of Illinois.) Note there is a new version of the Taxonomy, 2.0, published in 2016.
