Cohort 1 Focus Areas for 2014-15

Cohort 1 schools are well underway with their planning processes:

Kennett High School is focusing on:

  • program structures for Extended Learning Opportunities and RENEW implementation
  • completing the Transition Framework to guide their work this year and next
  • aligning their action plan for Family Engagement with the District’s upcoming strategic planning process.

Kingswood Regional High School is focusing on:

  • program structures for implementing RENEW and increasing implementation of Extended Learning Opportunities
  • family engagement strategies for increasing family knowledge about transition
  • new ways of working with agencies like NH Vocational Rehabilitation who support young people in the transition to life after high school

Mascoma Valley Regional High School is:

  • looking at internal program structures and student development
  • one focus is ELOs with a goal of broadening access to offering ELOs for core competency classes
  • another focus is implementing RENEW to assist students in identifying both personal goals and strategies to achieve those goals

Merrimack Valley High School is working to:

  • increase Extending Learning Opportunities and create a more formalized system of implementation
  • develop procedures in which all students and their parents are involved in the transition planning process
  • make connections with community resources, supports and services and create a mechanism for informing students and families of these resources
  • implement RENEW at both the high school and learning center
