It’s time once again for news on the Next Steps NH project schools. These are REALLY short updates on the eight New Hampshire schools we’re currently supporting. All schools are working on transition planning and ELOs, and many are also implementing RENEW. The updates are meant to show the range of project activities – not comprehensive reports – several of the schools are engaged in similar activities.
Cohort 3 schools joined the project in June 2015.
Inter-Lakes: Staff and families worked together to hold a transition information session during the school’s open house in order to identify information families want about transition. Staff participated in a Family Engagement webinar, and have gathered data and identified potential students for RENEW.
Newport: After participating in the transition webinars, have added transition practices to their action plan and embedded family engagement rather than treat it as a separate element. Staff also participated in a Family Engagement webinar.
Nute: Family Engagement committee created a resource guide for parents to be given to families at IEP and 504 Plan meetings. Staff participated in a Family Engagement webinar and the transition webinars. Nute recently launched a student ELO website and is deepening its efforts to sustain their current exemplar ELO program.
Timberlane Regional: Planning to pilot their first ELOs this year. After participating in the transition webinars, case managers developed a transition package that includes a breakdown of expectations regarding transition planning for each of the four years of high school.
Cohort 4 schools joined the project in June 2016.
Exeter: Leadership team is working on completing the project fidelity tools which are prerequisites to developing their action plan. They held their family focus groups, and will be using Next Steps NH to revitalize and re-vision RENEW.
Mascenic Regional: Leadership team is having good discussions about how all project pieces fit together. They have completed their ELO Fidelity Tool, are beginning work on the Transition-Focused Education Framework Fidelity Tool, and have held their family focus groups.
Raymond: Leadership team is actively participating in data collection and will use data from their Transition-Focused Education Framework Fidelity Tool, ELO Fidelity Tool and Indicator 13 compliance monitoring to create their action plan. Family focus groups are happening soon – they’ve had a parent on their leadership team since Day 1 of the project. Their ELO workgroup is well established and in the process of gathering data.
Souhegan High School: Leadership team is completing project fidelity tools. They’ve conducted family focus groups to collect feedback on family engagement, and will incorporate that feedback in their Transition-Focused Education Framework Fidelity Tool. They are looking forward to putting in place more supporting structures for ELOs.
