Terrill Covey Awarded 2023 ELO Coordinator of the Year

Congratulations to Terrill Covey, ELO Facilitator in Strafford Learning Center’s Transition Support Center! Terrill was awarded the 2023 ELO Coordinator of the Year award at the 29th Annual New Hampshire Excellence in Education Awards (EDies) on June 3. Official EDies announcement

Terrill has worked in education for 20 years, and has been a part of Strafford Learning Center for 14 years. In 2015 he shifted from teaching English at the Charles Ott Academy to become the ELO Facilitator in Strafford Learning Center’s Transition Support Center. In this role, he has served as Co-Chairman of the New Hampshire ELO Network, been invited to speak at a National Convening for the National Center for Learning Disabilities to discuss the value of Extended Learning Opportunities in supporting students with disabilities, and presented to state legislators in New Hampshire about the value and impact of Extended Learning Opportunities.

In addition to his work with ELOs, Terrill teaches transition skills in the Transition Support Center, where he focuses on the “five buckets” of transition – Academic Readiness, Work Readiness, Wellness, Independent Living and Self-Determination.
