Transition Planning Guide for NH’s Highly Mobile Youth

A new transition planning guide, Transition Planning for New Hampshire’s Highly Mobile Youth, has just been completed by the New Hampshire Department of Education, Office of Homeless Education. Developed over two years by two VISTA volunteers, its purpose is to improve the opportunities available to homeless youth in New Hampshire. The authors used the concept of a subway system as an organizing principle:

There are sections on finance and money, job and career, establishing your legal identity, life skills, self care and health, housing, and community and more. It provides youth with planning templates to figure out what they have already, document their available resources, write down their plans, and determine their readiness to accomplish the plans.

Written in clear direct language and in many short sections, the guide is full of practical pragmatic information that will be useful to many youth of transition age.
